Nigeria’s Africa’s most populous nation is a country with multi-cultures and languages.

The country is blessed with vast natural resources and is home to every fifth African. Blessed with abundant mineral wealth, an enterprising population and a productive agricultural base, it can be referred to the Heartbeat of Africa. The official seat of government is Abuja, Federal Capital Territory (FCT), while Lagos is the hub of commercial activities in Nigeria.  

Lagos is a cosmopolitan city made up of a collection of islands connected together by long bridges. One of its most important borders is the Atlantic ocean. Transportation

There are airports in the major cities of Nigeria such as Lagos, Kano, Jos, Benin, Kaduna, Port Harcourt, Calabar, Abuja and Maiduguri. The major airport in Lagos is the Murtala Mohammed Airport. Several domestic airlines and major International airlines combine to link Nigeria with the rest of the world.

Lagos hosts over half of the total industrial investment in Nigeria and the commercial activities. 

Lagos is the economic capital of Nigeria. It is essentially a metropolitan city with industries, banks, multi-nationals and small businesses. Nigeria’s currency is the Naira. Most internationally recognized currencies and traveler’s cheques can be exchanged at commercial banks, hotels, and international airports. Economic activity can be seen in the many different markets and shopping areas in the city.

Nigeria is often identified as the fastest moving economy and one of the most advanced Information and Communications Technology (ICT) market sectors in Africa. Nigeria has the largest population in Africa, also making it an attractive and big market. Most of the computing action is in Lagos. In fact the Ikeja computer village is a hotspot patronized by many in the West African sub region.

All manner of Computing and Telecom services are available to the visitor to Lagos - e-mail, internet, Voice Over IP (VOIP), e-learning, cybercafes, etc.  And the telecom sector has undergone a massive transformation since the introduction of GSM technology. Growth in IT and Telecom has been phenomenal because of Nigeria's size and appetite for such technology. So while there might be an IT or Telecom downturn in the rest of the world, the ICT sector in Africa especially in places like Nigeria continues to boom. Entertainment, Leisure, Relaxation

There are numerous historic and tourist attractions, and entertainment spots, in and around Lagos. Places to visit include Seaside attraction and resorts, beaches, museums and other hotspots. There are also numerous restaurants all over the city serving a wide variety of local and international dishes.

Education

Lagos has a rich intellectual life. Public and private primary and secondary schools exist. Higher education institutions are the University of Lagos, Yaba College of Technology, Lagos State University and Lagos State Polytechnic. Several major research institutes are also located in Lagos.

 

Culture

Nigeria has a rich cultural tradition. Although Lagos is a cosmopolitan city, its most popular festival is the Eyo festival. This Eyo festival is an annual festival of the people of the Lagos which features the display of Eyo masquerades.

 

Religion

Nigeria is a highly religious African country where for many religion is a way of life. Nigeria and Lagos in particular has a rich, varied and complex mix of religious beliefs that cut across different strata of society.

Health Services

Private and public health facilities are found throughout the city. Medical insurance schemes are just about to begin and travellers must bear the cost of their medical care and expenses. Chemist shops are everywhere stocking a wide variety of drugs.

Security

As in any major city, travellers must be careful to avoid getting involved in unsafe situations or fraudulent, deceptive and unfair business practices. Take your normal security precautions. No matter how attractive the offer, always carry out due diligence before you invest or buy into any business opportunity. Avoid deals that appear too good to be true.
