Nigeria's ICT Voices -  ICT Policy Development in Nigeria

 

Welcome to Nigeria's ICT Voices - visitors to Jidaw.com (the acclaimed web initiative for IT and Telecom), have been sharing their opinions,  views and recommendations on the development of the Nigeria's ICT for Development (ICT4D) Strategic Action Plan and Policies by taking part in the Online ICT Policy Survey.

 

Some of such insights are published online as Nigeria's ICT Voices to raise awareness and involvement.

>> Mrs. Y. A. Ayodeji - ""In order to achieve the right balance, all areas of the society must benefit from ICTBasic infrastructure must be in place".

 

 

>> Paul Abiodun Akanbi Oluwa - "We are still scratching the surface. Probably due to little real buy-in from the top"

 

 

>> Olu Deyaolu - "Let's start early with the kids. "We will not move forward until the 'old boys club' mentality dies".

 

 

>> Davison Ebinne - "Computer studies should be mandatory at all levels" and "we should keep the certificate syndrome and politics away".

 

 

>> Rabbo Zakka is in a hurry to catch up. He believes Nigerians can perform any feat. All that it is required is honesty, hard work and good planning. 

 

 

>> Adeyinka Elebute - "A larger percentage of our graduates are very much computer illiterate and will need "brushing up"

 

 

>> Wunmi Hassan: She advocates the use of local languages in ICT development and says "no to kangaroo players". Here are the views of as captured from the survey:

 

 

>> CHIKE CHIEJINA. To him the ICT policy development process is too slow. He advises immediate investment in IT. 

 

 

>> More ICT Voices from Nigeria will be published in future.

  • How has Nigeria's ICT policy fared

  • Stimulating the local ICT industry

  • How can Nigerian developed software be promoted

  • How the private sector can become the driving force for ICT
