Diary of Deeds DOD – Nigerian Social
Network
DiaryofDeeds was co-created by 2 young talents. Adepoju-Conde Oluwasegun and Bashiru Ismail Babatunde. The idea came late 2009 after Segun watched a movie called day of the dead.

He wanted to make a social network that members could discuss about their lost loved ones. At first he came up with the name Diary of Dead (DOD).
But after enquiry from the public and friends he decided to change it to Diary of Deeds, still retaining the DOD acronym. "Different in concept from most of the typical the social networks out there, It is the only social network that allows you to keep and share a diary of your deeds in an unusual and unique manner."
Design of DiaryofDeeds
The first design of DiaryofDeeds was single-handedly done by Adepoju Conde, it
was okay but lacked appeal. The design was poor. Then Bashiru Ismail Babatunde
came into the picture.
Being his room-mate and NACOSS Special Adviser (Adepoju Conde is the
current president of NACOSS, Crawford Chapter), he was the perfect partner for
such a serious project. He did the first design and Adepoju Conde Segun was extremely
impressed. That was how Bashiru Ismail Babatunde got involved.
The current DiaryofDeeds took almost 2 years to become a reality, but the actual
transformation lasted just 5 months. It took a lot of sleepless nights and total
dedication to make it a reality.
But, glory be to God. Diary of Deeds is up. According to the young gurus, the current
website diaryfdeeds.com is just the first step in so many plans they have. A new
design for DiaryofDeeds is in progress. With this new design, users will be able
to open
and choose from different colour templates. Also in
progress are the mobile diaries which would enable users update deeds straight
from there phones.
Guideline
Below is a little guideline on how to use the
current diaryofdeeds.com website.
The Welcome Page
The signup form consists of three main fields.
-
DiaryName - This is going to be the name of your diary. Users will refer to you using this name!
-
Email Address - Your e-mail address should be entered here! It will be used for opening your diary (signing in) after signup.
-
Password - Your personal password should be entered here!
-
The last thing is the Botcheck field (captcha). It is used for security purposes. DiaryofDeeds was created for persons only and not machines. You can refresh the captcha if you can't see the text clearly. You can also click on the audio button to listen to the content of the field.
After signing up, we are redirected to the getting-started page where we
complete the signup process by uploading our profile picture and updating the
profile information. We also learn how to post deeds in our diary.
How exactly does the diary operate?
3 main pages exist under the diary. Monitor, Home and Xclusive. What do they do?
-
Timeline - This is where you post deeds and share your thoughts for the whole world to see. Deeds can only be viewed. They can't be commented on, liked or edited.
-
Home - This is where you post deeds, your daily activities for friends to see. People who find your diary entertaining can adopt your diary, read your updates, like and comment on them if they choose to do so.
-
Xclusive - Not all our deeds are meant to be shared with people. We can keep an exclusive diary where we write stuffs for our eyes only. Special moments of our lives, either good or bad are meant to be documented. DOD does that for us. We can also attach pictures to our updates here.
The Games page is another fun center for we game lovers. We can play games
online at our leisure time.
With a sophisticated chat system, you can chat easily with your adopters (people
who adopted your diary) and adoptees (people whose diary you adopted). If busy,
you can decide to decline chat requests and continue with your business. You can
also send messages across to people.
For now, DOD runs a free advertisement programme where you can advertise,
yourself, NGO or company.
We call on the public to make use of
www.diaryofdeeds.com
Diary of Deeds is just at its beginning stage. A lot more is coming. God bless
DOD members. God bless DOD supporters. God bless the world.
